A Memento Mori statement cuff. A very special piece made to honor all the dead. All who came before us and all who die in every moment.
This cuff was entirely hand fabricated and forged from sterling silver sheet and wire, that was rolled, cut and formed by my ragged flesh covered skeleton hands. This process takes a lot of time and patience and makes something like this absolutely one-of-a-kind.
it was originally listed at $1150 and I lowered it a bit by cutting some of my time and labor off the price, rather than marking it as "on sale" because that never feels right, when my work is already priced fairly given my experience and the quality of my work. This bracelet is a great example.
This unique bracelet features natural Arizona Hematite Jasper that was cut and cabbed here in-house by my partner and Lapidarist, Max Avila. A truly gorgeous cabochon with a glossy surface with color that connects with the deep blood red of the four garnets that surround the setting. I chose this earthy jasper for it's blood and earth colors and gorgeous matrix and as a reminder we were born of the earth and will return to earth.
The roses and their leaves were cut and formed by hand from sterling sheet. The rose leaves were meticulously detailed with a graver and bur, and all the silverwork was all done by hand. Nothing is cast. The sides of the setting have stems of thorns I cut, snipped and formed from sterling wire. All very textural with a brushed polish.
The bracelet part of the cuff I made from three heavy sterling silver half round wires with added hand texture and 'X' stamping near the ends.
The sides of the cuff are adorned with curling hearts inspired by ironwork designs on old cemetary gates. I absolutely love how they turned out and lay flat with the curve of the bracelet.
This is a larger, longer statement sized cuff and the face/setting measures 3 /12" in length and 2" across.
Best fits wrists that measure approximately 6" to 6 3/4" around at the smallest part just above your wrist bone. The cuff measures 5 1/4" around the inside with a 1 1/4" opening, meaning total is 6 1/2 " inside measurement. My wrist is 6 1/2"+ and it fits and feels perfect and very comfortable to wear. If you don't know know your wrist measurement and don't have a flexible tape measure, you can loosely wrap a string around your wrist and measure the string with a ruler.
The back plate is textured and stamped with my LUPANYXA makers mark and 925 for STERLING.
As always, all edges were meticulously filed, sanded and polished buttery smooth.
