Named after the 1988 Spanish/American horror movie, Slugs, Muerte Viscosa. This ring features a banana slug-like, mossy, higher profile Hubei turquoise that was cabbed right here at home by my other half, Maxamillion Avila. I set this slug cab in a serrated sterling silver bezel setting and surrounded with hand forged, hand fabricated silverwork.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the return of the rain and more slugs here in Oregon. Every Fall, my work turns inward with the change in season. I'm once again, deeply inspired by the rains, the forests, rivers and verdant landscape that surrounds me here in the Pacific Northwest.
The back plate is imprinted and textured with a trillium pattern and then stamped with my LUPANYXA makers marks and 925 for Sterling.
The band/shank I formed from heavier sterling double half round wire, and split the ends into a split style for maximum comfort. I also hand stamped a design on the palm side of the band.
All the silverwork is filed and sanded smooth and soft to the touch. As a very tactile person, I like to make sure my jewelry doesn't catch, snag or scratch the wearer.
The face of the ring measures 2" in length and just over 1.25" at the widest point.
All photos were taken with natural, outdoor light, no touch ups, no filters, no photo manipulations or enhancements.
One-of-a-kind and entirely hand fabricated by yours truly.
